All you guys attending the Khonvention will get to play with this:

:D  :D

....boy, I have been busy lately...

DannyInJapan ordered it. Basically a combo sheath holding both an AK Bowie and a custom skinner - designed by DIJ.

Fun stuff!

More pics, of course...:D

The AK Bowie stays here, the rest goes to Japan. Danny feels pretty confident in his leather skills and will (hopefully) wetform the sheath to his particular AK Bowie (should be pretty close). That's why the sheath is "unfinished".

In case anybody's wondering "How the heck did you get those pics?"........here's my setup:

Basically, it's just a PVC box with fabric panels and 2 lights. Works great for getting rid of "hot spots" and cost me less than $10 and about a half-hour of work....so easy it's ridiculuous....

...weet! Awesome rig and blade Pen. Love the grind on the point of that skinner. Really clean work on the sheath too!

Soon, Kris Kringle, soon...

Very nice work Dan!
I really like that skinner; congrats to you and Danny for the design/execution. (I wasn't sure about the false edge until I saw how you knocked the sharp point off the plunge cut, nice touch.)
Thanks for sharing your light box setup.
Regards,
Greg

Wow!
This is my first time to see it since I sent him the design.
It looks great!

tom Brown, eat your heart out!

Very cool, Pen! That's the perfect accompaniment to the AK Bowie, and a nice sheath rig to boot! I like the bevels on the handle material.

Thanks, guys.

Greg - thanks for noticing the lil' things...;)

I usually try to knock off as many hard edges as I can. I grind freehand on the slack belt, so it's kinda become a modus operandi for me since day 1.

By the way, the sheath is worn on the belt in the small of your back - horizontally. Locks up pretty good - should be an easy and safe carry.

Funny thing - the sheath looks pretty simple, but believe me, it took a lot of thought (and paper models) until I could come up with a clean simple design that would meet DIJ's objectives.

Glad you like it Danny!

Nice job Dan and cool design Danny. That skinner looks really sweet! Bet it handles good too. Even though the handle is smooth, I bet it your hand won't slip do to the great shape. Pretty sexy.

Mike - stock removal. 440c doesn't like to get banged around...

Roger - Water Buffalo Horn - just like what they use for Himalayan Imports khukuris and such. Great stuff....but...:barf: :barf: *cough*.. *cough*... stinky stuff...blech...
