Dilema. Large number of knives

Ok guys, Here's my dilema... One of the associations I belong to is looking at buying custom knives for exclusive resale.

The biggest problem is that they would need of 200 - 300 in each edition. Delivery has to be in 3-6 months!

I'm figuring it would have to be someone with a CNC or the ability to get them laser cut. Considering the amount, delivery time and the fact that they want them for resale, it would probably need to be a fixed blade.

Anyone interested? Any ideas? They really want custom maker vs production manufacturer.

The good part is that if someone could do it, it could mean 2 exclusive editions a year, with lots of advertising in Blade Magazine.

I know this is a tall order, but any help would be appreciated (even if its to tell me I'm totally crazy).

Thanks,

Pam

Hello Pam,

That almost sounds too good to be true!

A few more details are needed though. Do you need 200-300 of each type/model? How many different models? Are the knives already designed or are you looking for a designer and maker?

And finally, what is the target prices.... either wholesale or retail?

am I interested?.... heck yes! :)

am I a talented maker?...heck no! :(

..however I have resources and talents that may lend themselves to a collaboration effort.

Please fill us in some more.

Sincerely,
Rob Frink

I may be mistaken, but didn't Bob Loveless get his start with a deal like this? Whatever happened to him?

Here's more information:

The group is the National Independent Cutlery Association (NICA). They are looking for a custom maker willing to do an exclusive run of between 200 - 300 knives (all alike). They prefer pocket knives or "something different" in a straight blade.

Heres the tough part: They want to be able to retail them at ideally at $199.95 (no more than $250.00), which means they would like to buy them at $100 - $125. Delivery would also be tight! They want the knives all delivered within 3 - 6 months.

The good part is that it could be a great deal for the right person. They are talking about the possibility of 2 offerings per year. That would be 400 - 600 knives guaranteed sold per year. NICA does extensive advertising of their exclusives in Blade Magazine. It would be a great way to get your name known. NICA members have total 50 - 60 brick and morter stores all across the United States. Thats alot of customers seeing your name.

Again this isn't the right deal for everyone. I do know they will want to set up to talk to people at the Shot Show in Las Vegas, NV (same weekend as the Las Vegas Classic).

Email me if you're interested.
