Dilemma

I have a problem and don't know if this is the right place to post.

I'm haing trouble getting in touch with a customer of mine. He ordered a knife, paid a deposit and now I can't get in touch with him.
I believe he found me originally thru the Forum. I've tried searching his name in various ways on the forum. No results. The e-mail I have for him bounces back. The phone number gets a recording that the call can't be completed. It is the only number listed for him thru directory assistance. My wife mailed a note to his snail mail (2 different addresses actually)quite a while back and no reply.
I don't really know where to go from here. Should I just wait for him to contact me?
I don't want him thinking I took his deposit and then forgot about him.

What the heck would you ever do in a situation like that,,,if you never do have success in locating the person? Do you consider him deceased or what? Or, what could be done if instead of the purchaser not being found, if the seller were to vanish or pass-on after a deposit was left with him? Would you be out the deposit if that were to happen? Never gave any of these questions a thought before now!

Post what city the fellow is from and see if any forumites are close to him. Maybe they could do a bit of investigative (without invading privacy) work for you and get you connected with the buyer.

I've seen it work for people trying to collect from deadbeats, why not for a good purpose as well?

Maybe posting a pic of it will help, too. If not, at least you might have some takers here that may want it. Question is though, how long do you wait before selling to someone else?

I wish you luck in finding him and hope everything is okay with him, too!
