I realized after my first post that I have not been around much in the last six months. I need to re-introduce myself.
My name is Jason - my Bladeforums handle used to be "TF" - and I have been kicking around Bladeforums for some time. I have "known" Andy since he was remaking Old Hickories into bushcraft knives and posting them in the old Wilderness Section of Bladeforums.
I began making sheaths because I didn't have a proper sheath for the knives I owned. I have been at it for nearly 5 years now and have made more than a few. After Andy went full time I was fortunate enough to design a knife for his lineup called the "Arete". This was a group effort and I still own the first one produced (pictures below). I have continued to make leather products (as well as other things) all this time and have worked hard at updating my craft. For a time, I was probably the only sheath maker on Andy's forum - but soon more came along. Good men with good product. Andy has a way of inviting people who play well together to his forums and it was a blast to see so much good leather being put on his knives.
I try and bring something to the table that I think the customer wants and would be more than happy to make a sheath for your blade. For instance, I use only American Tanned leather from the back of the animal. This is to prevent any stretching or warping over time that can happen from inferior leather. The leather I use has almost always been drum dyed at the factory with good penetration and proper finishing. The only time I deviate from this is when I am trying to make a custom color - then I seal my own leather myself before cutting. I use imported braided flat poly thread in 1mm thickness and hand stitch my sheaths shut in an English Saddle Stitch style. Hand stitching makes a VERY strong stitch and with the awl piercing the leather at an angle makes for a row of stitches that does not tear. I sew my sheaths in a fashion that saddles have been made for hundreds of years updates with the strongest material money can buy. I take great care with my edges to make them as durable and good looking as the knife you are putting in them. I use all brass Chicago Screws to make sure my accessories are secure and a removable dangler that has become my trademark. I finish all of my leather with a combination of pine pitch, beeswax, and oils that conditions, seals, and protects the leather from the elements.
Anyway, enough about me - let's get on to the sheaths and other products.
a) Andy Roy Fiddleback Arete with brown and black burlap micarta with black and white liners in 1/8th inch 01 steel. Never been used or even stropped.
b) Diomedes Industries sheath with removable dangler and firesteel holder. 8-10 ounce leather in hand dyed british tan.
c) Custom Firesteel. 3/8th inch by 3.5 inch firesteel set in an axis handle with a buffalo horn top and a stainless steel lanyard tube to match the bullseye tube in the Arete also made by Diomedes Industries.
You have here a complete bushcraft, woods, and hunting package that is set for the trail the minute you unbox it.
All of this can be had for 455 shipped (or 425 without the firesteel)
Sheaths:
The first three are old - new stock. These made the move with me and have simply been sitting and waiting to be used. I resealed them yesterday and they are being offered at a discount as they use an older stitching method.
