Need help. Have a Wegner Mouse II. Love it. EDC. Clip is SS and I want it gunmetal blue or black. I know this is mickey mouse but I got off the Metro the other day and two sheriffs were just eyeballing the little mouse. I have a BM Pika which has a perfect low profile clip but prefer the Mouse for EDC in a urban area. Happy to pay for a blue-job (hear SS is impossible to blue) or new clip.

Something cheap you could try would be to go to Radio Shack and ask for a piece of electrical heat shrink tube. You can also get this stuff at the NAPA auto parts store. It comes in black, blue, yellow, and red. Black, of course, is the one you're after. It will come in a handy five-pack of appox 4" lengths. Costs maybe three bucks. Take it home and slip it on the clip then use your wife's hair dryer to shrink it. Takes a LONG time to wear out. You've almost got to roll around in your driveway to hurt it. ;)

Easiest solution is a titanium clip anodized a dark deep purple color since black or dark gray isn't possible.

Otherwise there are some baked on finishes but I've never tried it. You could always just wrap it in shrink wrap and use a blow dryer to make it snug.

Thanks for the great response. STR, I am down for a Ti clip in something dark.

Um.....

But wait a minute. Isn't Cali fairly lax on knife laws? I mean, you can carry an auto there, for crying out loud (can't you?). Let them eyeball it. It's a WEGNER MOUSE. You could cut someone just as deeply with your pinky nail. I could understand someone being worried if you whipped out a 14" Bertrame stiletto, while screaming bloody murder and waving it at the passengers... But to have a tiny pocket knife, and act responsible with it? Let 'em think whatever they want. You're a law-abiding citizen (I assume), so nobody needs to question what's in your pocket. All they have to do is say "thank you" when they need you to cut something for them. :)

Regardless... sorry to rant. I'd suggest the electrical heat shrink tube as well. You can cover almost the entire clip with it and heat it down to conform to the shape. You may have to bend the clip a tad, though, because it will add a litle bit of thickness, potentially making it difficult to clip it to your pocket.

Peace.

You're just being paranoid. You knife is very likely legal in all cities and counties in California. If it bothers you that much, carry your knife deep in your pocket.

Bell I've sent you and email and replied to the one you sent me but seeing as how you apparently did not get the first one I sent I don't know how else to reach you other than posting here.

Open up and allow the private message option in your profile if you have not recieved my emails and we can communcate that way. I tried to reach you in a private message and it says you don't allow them so I don't know what else to do.

Thanks

STR

If you carry in CA, don't have the knife showing.
Concealed pocketknives are okay, but one peeking out of the pocket isn't...
You let someone see you're carrying, you can get asked to show everything in your pockets.

Bell I've replied to you email. Still nothing apparently. Try contacting me through the link in my homepage in my profile. Use the private message or "PT" as its called there.

Yea he's being paranoid , unless of course your also carrying something you would rather not have the coppers catch you with ;)
I carry big ol folders and dont worry a bit.
Anyway, I have had luck coloring some stainless using heat. Try taking your clip and clean it good with alcohol and lay it front side up across your stove burner and put your burner on med/high , keep and eye on it !
It wont melt... and usually it will turn color from straw to brownish/copper to purple/blue. Wont last forever unless you "seal" it and even then it will come off over time , but it does work for the short haul.
