I've been collecting modern and tactical style folders and fixed blades for a good while but with the encouragement and great advice from the forums, I decided to get my feet wet with a few Traditionals! I'm starting out on the inexpensive side so I can try them out and see what styles I like but I gotta say, so far I like them all! Variety is the spice of knife collecting!

I'm sure most of you are familiar with these guys but here are my new Colt Black Stag Canoe, Rough Rider Copperhead in blue smooth bone, Marbles Ram Horn Canoe and Marbles Ram horn Stockman! They all seem very well built and sharp right out of the box! I'm pretty happy with these selections so far but I am anxious to add a couple top tier traditionals to my collection down the road!

Welcome to the porch! You've got a good starting selection to try out. Enjoy the journey down the rabbit hole 👍

Do your wallet a favour & forget you ever heard of the Traditional sub forum. AKA Porch. These guys are a bunch of enablers.

Seriously, welcome fellow Pennsylvanian. You do know that right up the road from you, in Titusville, is where Great Eastern Cutlery is, right? Oh, and Case is up there too, in Bradford. They both make some outstanding traditionals.

See what I mean by a bunch of enablers? It's already started.

Haha, it's too late for me...save yourself! But yeah, I am working my way up the ladder...first Rough Rider and Marbles. Next will be a few Case knives and then I hope to grab a few GEC offerings! Gotta support the PA companies for sure!

a wonderful start definitely! dont be afraid to look out for good deals on canal street, older queen, schatt & morgan stuff. especially if you frequent yard sales, or gun shows/knife shows etc. Although GEC is the current hotness, before them, something else was the bee's knees!

Do not start with GEC !! .... your retirement fund will thank me ;)
Yes Indeed! LOL

This is true! Always true!

Good start to your collection !

Our local TSC doesn't usually have a very good selection, but I have bought a couple Cases from them. Most of mine were bought from the big on-line places.

Yes, more than likely I will find more selection and better price online...but it always a fun time going to TSC, LOL!

Yeah, and it's nice to be able to handle them before you buy. Tractor Supply is also my fashion headquarters, so we stop in pretty often.:)
(That's just because there isn't a Rural King nearby.)
