Dipping into Regulars

A small NICA 400 has graced my collection for a few months. I've been interested in checking out a large Regular but all the examples that come up for sale are a little too rich for me. Then when I decided to reduce my CRK collection and sell four 21s, a couple of decent deals on large Regulars popped up. On the plus side, I had some cash for the Regulars but it didn't help me reduce the collection much.

Anyway, the first one is a large NICA 400 to go with my small version. It's well-used and destined for a spa trip soon but I think this is a pretty neat duo to have. The small handle is marked for the year 2000, the large is 1999. Both of these are super smooth.

The other is a 2005 plain large which should arrive on Monday. This is the seller's photo. I'm excited to check it out.

Am I the only one that finds the grind from the spine to the front cutting edge angle WAY too obtuse on CRK tantos?

If the regular Sebenza drop point was a German sheppard muzzle, the tanto is a super flat nosed pug.

I think their tanto blades do look a little strange but I'm not a tanto fan anyway, at least for a user. For me these are just collectibles.

The NICA tantos are more obtuse that the current offering. I agree the NICAs look a little strange, but I think the current tanto shape is perfect.

Some beautiful knives there! It's all I can do to not offer to buy the latest one from you:D. Once I found regulars, it was all over for me. When I started collecting them, i had to decide if I wanted to go for annuals or for CGG/UG. I choose the latter. Now that I've got what i set or for (minus a Native American ), annuals are next!

My advice, hang into them. I've had many Regulars go through my hands until I finally realized that I regretted selling every single one of them. Now I'm trying to get them back.

As long as I collect CRKs I'll hang on to the NICA Regulars. I think they're pretty cool and the pair will give me an example of both a small and large. The other one was an impulse buy from another forum. I thought I might carry it but realistically it's not likely.

Actually I would like some advice on an approximate value for the 2005 knife. I think it's alright to ask since I have a paid membership. I don't normally ask about values for stuff but it's a bit difficult to gauge these Regulars. They don't come up for sale as often as other knives and the prices I've seen seem to vary quite a bit. And then many of the sale threads have the prices deleted too. Regardless, I'm very confident it was worth the price I paid. It came with the box and documents. The blade steel is S30V. It seems to be in great, light user condition based on the additional photos the seller sent me. I'll likely do a video of it or at least some photos after it arrives.

You could get $650 for it pretty easily I bet. The lug looks like it isn't terribly worn. My $.02 anyhow.

There is a 2003 currently available on another site (I'm not affiliated in any way). Has been used and sharpened but appears to be in good shape. Asking $595. PM me if you would like a link.

My third Regular arrived early. Aside from a few dings it's pretty nice. I think I did pretty well on all these Regulars. I've invested $1050 into the trio.

I did a little more rambling about Sebenzas, looking at the Regular, Classic, 21, and 25 next to each other. It's nothing too in-depth and nothing folks here don't already know.
