Direction of screws ?

I noticed that the screws on my boys Annual Sebenza's are mounted in opposite way

Now both people I bought them from stated that they were new in the box.

Can it be that one of them was lying and the Sebenza had been disassembled ?

Or is it possible that one Sebenza leaves the shop with the screws mounted in one way and another leaves with the screws mounted in opposite direction ?

Look at underneath pic, the you should see what I'm talking about ;)

Should I disassemble one and put the screws right (and which is the correct direction ?) or just leave it at that ? (I'm not known to be handy)

Thanks for any feedback :)

The 2008 is how it comes from factory. The 2002 screws were flipped. Just enjoy them, the direction of the screws wont affect the knife's function. If you want to know how to take the knife apart look at the sticky of this forum how I clean my Sebenza.

Thanks for the feedback,,, I think I'll just leave them as is and don't mess with their smooth, flawless function as they have now,,, ;)

110% True............ They always come from the factory like the 2008. This aids in assembly at CRK and is their standard. MANY people switch them around so all the hex heads are on the back, which matches the clip screw. On the face side, the shiney heads add to some making it look fancier and cleaner. Now, they come with hex heads on both sides, so its really doesnt matter.

Question: if I want to switch them around, do I have to disassemble the knife completely as in the 'How to clean the Sebenza' thread or could I just switch them around 1 at a time, leaving the blade and washers etc in place ?

What would be the best order in which to do this ? Knife open or closed when doing this ?

You don't have to take it apart. Keep the blade closed.

It's painfully easy to disassemble the whole thing though and you should not worry about doing it. Search on youtube for So Lo, he has a thorough instructional video.

Cheers,,, I'll have another think on it if I should risk it or leave it upto my boy when he receives it,,, I really don't want to mess this one up,,,

Leaving the blade closed, just unscrew one at a time and re-install it the opposite way. It will only take you a few minutes if that, then it looks like it came from the factory. Very Easy !!! I usually start with the blade pivot and then work my way back to the rear.

Chibbi... you're not going to tell me you never disassembled a Sebenza???

;)

In fact, I never disassembled one of mine either.:D

Kind regards,

Jos

Jos? Chibbi? what's going on guys? maybe a little gettogether in Antwerpen for a quick disassembly course :p

Chibbi,
I'm the type of guy who has to read an instruction manual just to change a simple light bulb around the house. But I can disassemble and assemble a Sebenza (and the Umnumzaan) with my eyes shut. It's that simple.

You can really "jewel" them up with a little lapping film polish/sanding and some Flitz - taking out all the machining marks and turning 'em into perfect little convex mirrors.
