Headed up to NH for a few days of dirt bike frivolity with some friends that had rented a cabin in Jericho State Park. These friends have been street bike and dirt bike friends and knives are never really the topic of conversation I only brought what I wanted with me camping so as not to freak anyone out since we don't normally camp like this, I brought my BK2 kit, my bk11 edc kit and my 15.

While I'm cooking talk of a fire starts, the campground had delivered some wood for us, one of them proceeds to open the bundle put it all in the fire ring and goes I got this and walks off and before I realize it walks back with and is dumping fuel on the fire and he lights it, after 3 failed attempts one with diesel fuel I say please don't do that again I'll take care of it in a minute. I walk into the cabin and get the BK2 kit, its dark now so its not seen, there were already comments on the BK11 ;-) .

I take all the wood out of the fire ring and pick a baton and one wedge, there's no real place to grab kindling and the wood is pretty crappy and wet. I take out the BK2 and the comments start flying "look at the size of that thing" "holy crap that knife is huge" "is that a tank?" and I say what do you mean this isn't even my biggest I didn't want to freak you guys out and everyone laughs and I proceed to process the wood and make a fire, I only took one at the end though with the BK2 on the rocks

After a good day of riding and one of the highlights being the Jericho Warming Hut, the view was incredible

Good onya, MI. Great pics and probably a very common experience for those of us with the tools....that other people don't understand - until they see them in action and they're sitting by a fire with some bite-sized food. No wonder they were freaked out, tho. You do kinda look like an ax murderer...;).

Also...The Granite State ROCKS! But - you already know this.

Hell yeah man! Looks like a great time! That's a fine Beckerhead representing right there, nice job man!
Noswad will love this thread...

Good thing I didn't bring any axes then!! I just keep stropping the BK2 and it keeps making the tiny thin curls, it never ceases to amaze me with what it can do

Looks like a great time :).

I loved how they couldn't start a fire with diesel fuel, but a Becker and some skill could.

Also, I really loved the photos of the views, and of the dirt bikes. And, as someone who used to dirtbike quite a bit, I'm playing a game with myself to see if I can get the models right.

Let me see... you're on a KDX 200/220 if I'm not mistaken, someone in the group is on a late 90s to early 2000's XR600 (hard to tell, but the forks look like a 600, not the 400), what appears to be some sort of WR426/450 with a supertrapp exhaust, then what might be another YZ/WR/426/450 of mid 2000's vintage (could also be a YZ250, but the kickstarter makes me think 4 stroke), and a KX250?

Was I close?

But excellent work on the fire prep. I'm usually in a rush, and have far less of the true small kindling that you had.

Also, the BK15 should be quite easy to sell right now, as its low sale price puts it in the range of "reasonable" for pretty much everyone. And it sounds like you may have sold some :).

Great pics MI. you've really been hittin the outdoors lately. Love that charcoal grill, brilliant. Great to see the blades beIng used purposefully thanks for sharing man.

Great pics of what looked like a fun weekend. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool - my poor dirt bikes have been sitting idle for far too long.

I am waiting for my grandson to get old enough to want to go riding.

Nice job on the fire starting and cooking and showing your friends how to use a knife.

Was that fire ring something that you fellows brought or was it part of the park / camping area?

I would like to find a fire ring like that one for my back yard.

What a great weekend!

Oh man, soooo envious!

Makes me miss my old Kawasaki F7 175.

Madman that was truly fantastic! I smiled the whole way through reading this as, being a proud knife owner and user, it's super cool seeing people's faces when a great knife is used purposely like you did there. I bet you were grinning your face off when you were doing all that! I know I would've been!

I've always had respect for the guys that ride full size bikes like you have there. I have a 125cc Pit Bike that I love to bits but the bigger bikes scare the f'shiznit outta me. Looks like you had a ridiculously fun time bro, I'm pretty jelly right now. Not just of the riding but of the awesome blade usage. Keep it comin brother. Love your threads!

Springy..

I'm impressed mine is a 98 kdx 200, the other kawi was a 2003 kdx 200, a 94 dr 350 dirt, 96 dr 350 street, 2006 wr450and a 97 xr 600

Ah, so I wasn't all that close on most of them.

The aftermarket plastic on the street legal DR350 threw me off (unless they came with blue?), but I should have noticed the forks weren't inverted, and thus it couldn't be a newer WR. And the new seat/tank graphics on the other KDX also had me confused thinking it was a 250.

Also, you guys eat a LOT better than my dad and I did on dirt bike outings. And with that much delicious meat, its no wonder the BK15 was a crowd favorite :D.

Thanks for a post full of great scenery, good food, lovely blade work and good fire skills....... I LMAO about the Diesel fail..... Thanks too for you proselytism on my behalf ........ I do appreciate it...... What a lovely view you had at camp.....

Whatever I can do for the cause sir

How about this? I shave the stick down that doesn't split well into smaller pieces and make mini feather sticks over and over and keep any curls that get away and then with a lighter and some times firesteel (dry wood needed) this is a great little tinder bundle or base that ignites easily

Nice work! The great outdoors. Amazing selection of meat. Spreading the appreciation for Becker knives. You're on a roll, man!
