Dirty Farmer

My beloved AP Farmer has developed a very "gritty" action upon opening and closing the main blade. I have soaked it in warm water with dawn detergent, oiled it generously, but the gritty action remains. Any suggestions??? I can live with it, but I would prefer not to.
