Picture the scene, it's Easter Weekend you have monday off work. What better way to spend the weekend than getting away with your 2 favorite mistress's for some dirty fun.

That was my thoughts anyway when I offered to help my father with some 'light' gardening. He said he had a chainsaw lined up but I could bring 'one of my big knives' if I thought it would be useful. So I rocked up with a FFBM and a CGBM thinking why take 1 when 2 will do.

30 mins later the chainsaw is broken and out come the BMs. You can see from the pics it was a nightmare of branches from 0.5 up to 5 inches thick. All under tension and compression just waiting to fall on or spring up on me. Used the technique of bending as many as I could so when I chopped the branches they just splintered. Chopped and cleared bush/small trees for 9 hrs over the 2 days. No resharpening, no damage to either blade.

My father has finally had to admit there might be something to owning a big knife after all, but i'll be long dead in the ground before he gets one of mine lol!

Very Cool! A good son bringing home both his Mistresses to meet the family.;):D

Couldn't get them all on, the attachments gods are a fickle lot.

The red object in the first pic is a large plastic soft drink bottle. My dog was playing with it and decided to leave it there for me to recover later. He's a swine for doing stuff like that. If any of you have a dog and specifically a bullmastiff then you'll know what i'm talking about.

now the real question is which did you like better after long chopping sessions? the heavier or the lighter bm?

Sweet!

Nice work with the BMs...

Tell your dad that everybody needs a good Mistress. :D

Here's a pic of the pup, he's 2 now and about 150lbs.

As for my preference I found the the CGBM to out perform the FFBM. It was a better fit in my hand, felt better when I was chopping (it was like an extension of my arm). It also cut the wood deeper so required less effort to do the same job as the FFBM.

I put the difference down to the CG being a user I bought from Troy who had put a good cutting edge on it and sanded the handles for a smoother grip (+1 for you there mate). The FFBM was brand new so it had rough handles and a really fat angle on its cutting edge. I have now convexed the edge and will work on the handle for a smoother fit for my hand. I tested its new edge against the CG and it cuts better now. As for the feeling of it being an extension of my arm, it's not quite there yet but a few more days of use and some more time in the weights room and I should be sorted

good answer. I know with a FFBM and a CGBM against a back stop (like chopping a 2x4 against a stump) I would expect the heavier one to hit a bit harder, and make you tired a bit quicker also. But I know from trimming the saplings that keep crowding my truck that cutting bushes like that is totally different.
