I just took apart a friends Myerco Big Rascal. I won't compare its quality to any Spyderco FRN lockback, however I do think that the concept of a removable blade pivot that allows dissasembly, is interesting.
One of the few problems that can occur with an FRN lockback is the ingress of grit, especially sand. This can sometimes be difficult to flush out.
FRN knives are, to my way of thinking, elegantly simple. They contain a minimum of parts. I was just thinking that the addition of a removable blade pivot would not add much in the way of parts, and therefore, not compromise the simplicity of design. At the same time, such an addition would increase the servicability.
I understand that there is probably no big rush to change designs. Most people (including myself) seem pretty happy with Spyderco's current FRN offerings. I'm just wondering if removable pivots may be looked at in the future?
