I want to take my Spyderco Delica98 knife apart. What is the correct procedure? It has two pins on the frame. Do I just pop/push them out with a punch tool? From "left to right" OR "right to left"? (I take my pistols apart by removing the frame pins with a punch tool). I want to remove the two pins on the Delica98 , so I can clean/polish/grease all imperfections. What is the correct procedure? It looks very simple , but I want the correct steps from a knowledgeable "knife-smith".

When I "punch" the "pins" out , should I do it with the "blade out/open" or "blade in the down/closed position"?

Harikari,
You should be careful. The pins have probably been peened (expanded on the ends) in order to hold the whole package together. Punching them out will damage the scales. I have removed the pins from old folders by slipping a very thin blade knife under the scale and cutting the pin. The pins will come out easier after you do this. The blade should be in a position so that you do not damage it or yourself.

Hope this helps.

I've had some success with Drilling pins out with a press. I had to go VERY slowly, and make sure my guide hole was dead center, using a slightly smaller bit than the pin, because it was peened down. I only had to do this on one side, thankfully. It was really tedious.
