My Active Duty never arrived. :(

Last week I was told "We only ship those on certain days".

This week it was "We shipped it but it came back because the Shipping Department put the wrong address on the package".

Yesterday I was promised that Busse would ship it to my house overnight so I would get it today. Nothing arrived.

I don't want to bad mouth Busse, but I want you all to know that I am disappointed. This was to be my first Busse.

Is this standard customer service at Busse or just a run of bad luck?

W4AL,

I'd try calling the shop and talking to Jerry. I have never had a problem that Jerry didn't do his best to make right.

Ditto. Jerry will go out of his way to make it right.

It sounds like bad luck, every knife I ordered came within 3 weeks of the 3-6 week delivery time. One question though, is this the new AD that you ordered or was it an older version. I was just wondering if anyone has tried to order the new ones yet. I was waiting on the new website, but Sep. is now almost half over and I didn't want to call the shop again until their ready to take orders. One thing is for sure though, when you do get your Busse, you won't be dissappointed in the quality or performance.

I would also say bad luck. I believe that they are under going a lot of changes at the moment, and sometimes things get missed when everyone is frazzled. In my dealings with Busse, I have found everyone to be of the utmost integrity and Jerry has never hit me as a "make excuses" type guy. I'm sure that when he sees this, he will find out where the ball was dropped on your order and make it right. It will be worth the trouble. The AD is a SWEEEEET little blade. Enjoy it :)

My understanding is that the AD is not changing.

I think he meant one of the New AD's with some of the new options, but I could be wrong and I usually am :O :D

Yep, I meant the new ones with options. I called the shop back in early Aug and was told Sep. 1 but still no website yet, so I haven't tried to order. I missed out on the BS and JABA, but I do want an AD whenever there available.

Jerry called me.
Yes, he tracked me down on a Saturday night to talk about my AD order.
He promised to make this right and I know that he will.

I explained that I already have a Kydex sheath (thanks to David Brown) and a leather belt on the way (thanks to Keith @ Hand American). I am fully accessorized and NEED this knife.

I am sure that Team Busse will come through for me! (And I hope that the team won't still be holding a grudge about this thread when I order my next Busse :D ).

You may want to check out HandAmerican further. Keith has a sharpening system designed around the Busse and Swamprat convex grind. I have a sharmmake I use about 10% of the time, the other 90% is HandAmerican strops and steels. You did good with both choices.

on monday (9/8) i called and asked if it had been pushed back to october, and was told *im probably paraphrasing this...* "we're aiming for the beggining or end of next week". they've had a lot of set backs with the website...

now, im not sure if she meant the 8-15, or the 15-22 when she said that... needless to say, if its not here by about the 20th, im going to expect it out in october, unless the release dates will transend months, and only be available for a 30 day period, not necessarility a month in particular.

my question is this - will the ad or the no be available at blade west?

To be perfectly honest (which I can do here and not get my head bitten off!), sometimes it takes a while to get your order. But the great thing about Busse is that they listen to their customers. When something does go wrong they try to improve their processes. I think customer service now is the best that Busses ever had. (And I'm not trying to kiss up to BB. :p)

Awsome product? Yes. Frustrating wait? Yes. Extended wait? Yes, at times. Takes an email or phone call or two? Yes. Great customer relations? You bet! BB, Shaggi, and Jerry will make things right? Their word is their bond. I hear ya, but it will come.

Cheers,
BJB :D

THANK YOU to Jerry, Kassi, and the Busse team.
My Active Duty arrived!!!!

It is a BEAUTIFUL knife.
Sharp as h-ll (the first thing that I did was shave off a few hairs).
Truly a work of art.
I am exceptionally pleased with the fit and finish of this knife.
The handles offer a sturdy grip and are triple-riveted to the tang for strength. The steel is....well....its THICK and STRONG. I could not get the blade to flex.
When you hold this knife in your hand it is SUBSTANTIAL. It is much heavier than other knives of this size. The AD feels like a tool that is ready, willing, and able to work. I appreciate good tools and the AD exemplifies CRAFTSMANSHIP. You can tell that the people that made this knife spent a lot of time on it and had the SKILL to do the job right.

I will now proceed to beat the living daylights out of it!

BTW, I already pulled it out of the leather sheath and put it in the Brown Kydex sheath. The Kydex sheath leaves almost all of the handle sticking out making it much easier to grab the handle and pull. The leather sheath covers most of the handle and requires that you pull it out using only a couple of fingers.

Keep up the good work!

Something that would make your leather sheath easier to use would be to tie a small lanyard onto the end of the knife.
