After all the discussion on sod busters in this forum I decided to get one. I was on the moore maker web site and really liked their version in bone. well it arrived today. The overall finish is decent and the bone slabs are done well. The problem is with lateral blade play. Perhaps I'm expecting to much from a production knife but you would think that this would not pass final inspection! I own a couple dozen case slippies including my 40 year old muskrat that I bought brand new as a kid and not one of them has this problem. I can even feel a slight rattle when the blade is open and I shake it side to side. Perhaps this is expected due to the the lenght of the blade. I was hoping to hear from some of the experts on this with this particular model. Thanks

I don't have any Moore Makers, but I wouldn't accept that much lateral blade play in any of my knives. It sounds like a dud may have slipped through- I would send it back and have it replaced.

Send it back, no quality knife should have any bladeplay.
I bet they'll make it right though.

Peter
