Disappointed in my SAK pocket pal

I ordered two pocket pals last week, one in classic red and the other in Alox. They came in today, and I very excitedly opened the boxes. However, I was immediately met with disappointment.
I opened up the red Pal, and tipped the box over. The knife fell out...followed by the scales!!!! I was shocked, but they weren't broken so I just pressed them on. So, with the scales on I now inspect the knife. The first thing I noticed was a huge gap in the spring:mad: I ignored it for the time being, and opened the blades to find them covered in black gunk of some sort. As an added bonus, they were dull! It seemed like my knife was destined for the trash bin and instead ended up at my house....
I am not expecting miracles, but come on SAK!
I cleaned and sharpened the blades, and pressed the liners to flatten some of the gap because I am not paying for postage to return a $15 knife. The knife is in decent shape now, but I have never had issues like this with any previous Swiss army product.
The other knife was fine:)
Thanks for reading my rant! Here is a picture of my scuffed but now pocket ready knife:

Did you order them from a reputable dealer? Or was this a big river store or auction site buy? Last time I checked, SAKs didn't come with a disclaimer, "some assembly required." I can't explain what happened other than perhaps you got a "returned" knife by mistake.

It was not from the bay or the river store, but a large dealer. I actually don't blame them, the knife package was sealed from the Swiss factory with the correct label.

Email Victorinox...I bet they will replace it and maybe pay the shipping or just send you a new knife....this is a one in a million thing for Victorinox.

Ah, this is a missed photo op. I would have liked to have seen what you saw. And, a pic of the look on your face. Haha

Just trying to be a bit light hearted there.
If you are ok with the clean up and restoration you did, by all means, enjoy the Pal.
But I think an email to Vic would be prudent here.

I emailed them and am waiting on a response. I should have taken before photos, that was a slip on my part! The knife is cleaned, assembled, and sharpened so nothing to show now Supra.

Connect them ... they use to be very good in their costumer service. But it surprises me a lot. I own about 80 -90 SAKs and never saw something like gaps or no scales or whatsoever. Sorry to hear.

Just goes to show that they (GEC, Case, Queen, Victorinox) all spit out a less than par product at times. Just sit back and see what kind of reply you get from Victorinox. It is unusual for them but not unheard of.
