Disappointed in my XM

A coworker observed me cutting up my potroast and said, "you use that thing every chance you get." Well, yes i do. It got me to thinking...

Me and a friend were once batoning wood for a fire, he with his Sebenza and me with my XM, and I couldn't help but notice how beat down his knife looked. Like it'd been to war, while mine on the other hand looked brand spanking new (except for the dirty orange scale). He didn't say so but he must have been thinking, "Afraid to use it, huh?" Like it's a safequeen that I just breakout for show. So, the problem I have is that this stonewash finish just doesn't show any wear. Not cool. I would never intentionally scratch it and I do take care and mind what I'm doing but the damn thing should have some character to it by now. Give me a beadblast to muss up because real mens knives should look well used. Shame on you Hinderer! :)

That is the beauty of the XM's stonewashed finish, clearly one of the better applications of the stonewash finish too.

How would you compare a Strider to a Hinderer in terms of batoning wood? And I agree, Shame on you Hinderer.

LOL. I wonder if you are asking me because of my screen name but actually i was going by strider214 long before I ever heard of Strider Knives. I have never owned one and only handled one once. I'll defer to someone else.

I thought you were going to start a riot lol :) It’s true though they keep looking good with the sw finish.

Just buy a coarse/fine dia-fold and give it a few random passes - it'll add a ton of character to it!

Edit: I don't mean on the bevel BTW. :D

The stonewash finish should be the only available finish on any knife. It rocks.

A lot of us actually prefer the look of well used sebenza handles. But the blade on mine is still in great condition. Nothing seems to scuff it either. I'm also desperately waiting for another xm in 3 inch.

I agree! I daily carry my XM24 on and off duty and it still looks new. The stonewash finish is unbelievable!! As for batoning wood with it, thats why I also carry a Busse!:)
