Just wanted to see a pic of the lock
why are you taking this apart?
Indeed, it voids warranty service so I've heard.
That's my understanding as well. Here is the wording from their website...The way I understand things, it works like this: If you damage the knife disassembling it, you void the warranty. If you take it apart and modify it, you void the warranty. Otherwise, no blood, no foul.
I know I have read that this is the case with Benchmade but I have not read this for Spyderco. Anyone have a link?

My understanding is that Spyderco never replaces blades. That is to say, if a blade is defective they simply replace the knife. So I suspect they would do exactly that - replace the knife. You'd be on your own to drill the lners of the new one. But please keep in mind that I do not work for Spyderco, am not a lawyer, and have never sent back a knife with a blade which broke after I drilled the liners.Isn't the warranty only void if the disassembly or modification leads to the failure? If you take the knife apart and drill the liners to reduce weight and the blade cracks, they should still cover it, correct?
I have read the taking apart voids the warranty claim quite a bit but never was able to find it on their website. Looks like you are allowed to take the knife apart as you should be.
