Disassembles Yoji and Para I

Hey guys, I checked out a video where someone showed a Para I and have seen videos of the Yoji I when Michael Janich presented his. It is obvious what the differences are between the I and II renditions of each knife, but it is not so obvious what's inside these buggers.

Does someone have images of the disassembly process of either one? I don't know if this breaks rules or anything because it's trade secrets, so sorry for asking if so. Deal is I'm sure the Chinese have already opened the knives up to counterfeit them, so the trade secrets are surely out and have been for some time.

^said video

^of course one of Janich's many videos where he shows the Yoji I (that I would never buy, even as a collector, as it looks so lame)

p.s. there is a high chance that google will delete both videos with their new policy

Most of the trade secrets involved are proprietary processes which cannot be readily deduced by examining the finished product. As for what is inside, a couple of steel liners, some screws and pins is about all. I've never had my Paramilitary apart, but I have repaired a severely damaged Yojimbo.

I am well aware what is in there in an itemized list, I just wonder how the individual liners and locks changed from one generation to the other. While I can notice QOL improvements in owning many a Spyderco in families, I just don't know what how the gen I and gen II differ. Do you have pictures? Are the detent balls and lock shape the same? Does the lock part from the scale proper differently? Is the parted area thinner or thicker?

There were a lot of changes made between the first and second generation on both knives, especially the detents. I can't give you dimensional changes without taking apart more of my knives, which I don't do without a much better reason than someone's curiousity. Just because they're put together with screws doesn't mean you should take them apart.

Oh ho ho ho. Maybe not for you, kind sir, but for me OH HO HOHO .
Yes, thank you for noting the detents. That's what I think would be the most fascinating. So let me ask you. Were the detents back then ball bearings lodged in the metal lock tab or part of the metal tab like a convex dent?

Take it apart till there's nothing left bolted together and assemble in reverse order.

If you don't feel confident take it apart in a big zip lock bag so it's easier to mail to Golden.
