What type of tool, aside from vise grips, should I use to change out the tools on a Leatherman Core? I know that someone makes a tool that fits the fasteners but I don't know what it is. I've used vise grips before and they tend to destroy, or at least mar, the fasteners.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been looking for such a tool, but I haven't found it. I'm imagining it must be like a small socket, with lots of "points" to fit snugly over the Leatherman knurled screw heads.

Use a heat gun to soften the threadlock compound (e.g., Locktite) used on the Leatherman screws before you try to loosen them. Loosen them while still warm and don't burn yourself.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure those ideas would make it easier but I'm looking for the actual tool.

I may be wrong, but those knurled pins look like rivets to me. If so, good luck getting them 'unscrewed'!

Actually I have unscrewed them and put them back together but I had to do it with vise grips. I'm trying to find the tool that Leatherman uses.

'...I'm trying to find the tool that Leatherman uses.'

Given the dicey gripping area and thus the likelihood of DIY head damage, I'd say it's likely they are intended to be 'factory-only' accessible, using some kind of a press-fit(?) splined 'socket'. Good luck getting hold of one!
