I can't get the pivot pin screw out of my Kershaw Shallot. Are there any tricks to getting the screw out of the pivot pin it just spins? Loctite is the problem I'm guessing.

Thanks

From what I've read heating it up with a hairdryer or a heat gun (not too hot) helps.

Edit: Wait, it just spins? What do you mean, that both sides spin and the other side of the pin is smooth?

As I recall the other side of the pivot on my Mini-Cyclone was fit in such a way that it couldn't spin. Like a carriage bolt, I'm not sure what the name of it is. Maybe you unscrewed it a little and now the carriage piece is out and spinning? If that's the problem just push it in while you unscrew it.

Open the knife and put a little side (lateral) pressure on the blade... not a lot, just enough to bind the lower half of the pivot and keep it from spinning, and you should be able to get it apart. I do it by pushing the blade tip against a towel on the workbench.

That's how I do it... others have done it by loosening the clip and putting a piece of rubber or rolled up tape between the clip and the pivot, and retightening the clip to keep the bottom half of the pivot from spinning.

Also make sure the blade is open when you take it apart, so there's no tension on the torsion bar (spring).
