NEWEST UPDATE
Entire knife disassembled due to a slippy-lock.
Discovered lots of dirty-oil residue inside.
All better now, and way smoother than ever.
I have literally been beating the living heck out of this guy.
Throwing it, chopping, prying, stabbing metal, digging in the ground, hammering with the handle, pried open beer bottles etc.
The list goes on and on.
I pried with it so hard a week or so ago, it would have snapped lesser knives.
Still no bladeplay.
Blade is still centered too.
It has been reprofiled by hand to a lesser angle and has no microbevel now.
Fantastic job Benchmade.

*OLDER UPDATE*
Works great!
Took some cuts from bouncing around in my motorcycle bag. (Not anymore. I blew up my motorcycle. :o:()
Lost some coating from cutting.
Lost some spine coating from scraping.
And most recently, got some stains of Anti-Seize when my hands were unknowingly covered in it:mad:.
It has Been flipped open by others.
It has Been stabbed into wood, whittled, cut open aluminum cans, been a poker, chopped, etc. I'm trying to not hold back.
Looks better now with some character. Although the Anti-Seize stains bother me.
Still perfectly centered, still no bladeplay, still no chips, still smooth, and rust hasnt been an issue.
A bit of a challenge to sharpen on ceramic rods, but it can be done. It doesnt need to be sharpened much anyways. the D2 is excellent at retention.
I say it again. Go buy one. Or 7. Or 17. Its waaay worth it. Even for the retail price of $225 I paid for it.
Go Benchmade

ORIGINAL REVIEW
I received this knife about 3-4 days ago, and have been carrying it since.
I cant make a review, because I dont feel like I have had the knife long enough to be technical about it.
I will contine to update this thread as time goes on rather than make a new one in a month or so.
Ill add new pictures to show the thickness later this week.

But, I can make a "first impressions" list and overview.

G10 scales over thick coated steel frames.
Beefed up Axis lock.
D2 steel
Drop point with a thick, not-very-pointy hard-use tip.
Dual cone-shaped removeable thumbstuds.
Coated deep-carry clip
Torx hardware-everything can be disassembled (warranty would be voided).
SIBERT design.

A portion of proceeds is donated to the military when "Adamas" anything is purchased.

First off, this knife is big. And thick.
Awesome! :D
It is a half pound. Literally.
The second you hold it in your hand for the first time, all you can think is: "WOW!".
I feel like I could baton this thing with a splitting maul through a semi-truck.

But, If you want a lightweight EDC to wear in your running-shorts, stop reading now.
But on the other hand, cargo shorts or pants, You'll be just fine.

Secondly, fit and finish.
Stellar.
Perfectly centered, rounded corners, flush-fit G10 against liners, etc.
When I got it, I had to tinker a bit with the pivot screw to get some minor horizontal bladeplay out.
I bought the floor-model though, so as far as I know it has been cycled 400 times.
So I cant count that really......
Now that it has been adjusted, its a folding-fixed-blade.

It carried nicely for 2 days with no pocket clip in back pocket too.
I have the clip back on it now. (Not shown in pictures)
The smooth handles feel great, but they dont help hold the knife very tightly with the also smooth clip. Although I dont think it will fall out.
I had some initial clip issues too.
It was probably a cm from even touching the handle.
It fixed easily with a strip of cardstock and a leatherman, but still, it was off.
It also may have been from someone bending it prior to me owning it. (Floor model)

If youre used to carrying a CASE Peanut, this will be like driving Grave Digger after driving a Prius for 5 years.
The large blade, thick handle, and black blade isnt very sheeple-friendly either.

I already have alot of confidence in it.
If you got in a car accident, or got lost in the woods, you'd want a good, strong, knife.
You never know what life will throw at you. I think this would make an excellent survival folder.
Having this one with me makes me feel ready for anything.

It has handled my sheeple tasks efficiently and cuts wood great.

It's big.
It's thick.
It's long.
It's heavy.
It's solid.
It's awesome.
So far, 9/10. The iffy clip knocked off a point.
Support your knife knuttery. Own one ASAP!
Great job Benchmade.

Is yours tan g10? when I got mine, right when they came out, it was painted black g10. so the tan wore off with time.
the clip is like that on all of them, as far as I know, to accommodate clipping to a thicker material i suppose.

I love the Adamas. The weight has yet to bother me, but I don't wear running shorts either so.....
I have heard about problems with the clip. My clip was fine though, guess maybe I got lucky. The Axis lock on my Adamas is the smoothest of any Benchmade I have or have handled. Some of it is probably due to the weight of the blade on the Adamas. No complaints on mine so far. I guess maybe they could have used a little thinner G10?

I don't own one, But I assume the positive aspect to the thicker g-10 is that it makes you less prone to releasing and or getting to the axis bar when u don't wish to. That said Im a fan of this knives such as my EDC, AK-47 and the Regular thick grip.

Actually, not really.
The ends of the axis bar stick out pretty good on both sides. I think it is thicker just to be stronger.
Now, I dont pry with my knives, but I think that this one could handle it.

IMHO the 275 Adamas trades amazing in hand ergonomics for carry comfort. I agree it is a heavy, thick, large folder. Yet even with the negatives I still love mine and find it in my pocket more often than not. My only complaint is that my meager sharpening skills are not capable of producing an edge on the d2 that is as sharp as I would like. Not a problem with D2, more a problem with my lack of sharpening ability.

Carrying the 275 is like carrying a sidearm; it's comforting to have not necessarily comfortable.

See, that's one of the things that always drove me nuts about D2. It's not as fine grained as I would like so i can't get the same kind of edge I can on S30V, S35VN, ZDP-189, M4, VG-10, CPM-154, etc even though I use the edge pro apex

Well, Richard J proved me right on that one. I was correct that it was my skills as a sharpener that were the problem. D2 takes a plenty fine edge in my book. Guess I better start practicing.

This knife always reminds me of a BRK Bravo-1/Gunny Folder, if there was such a beast.

Blade shape, thumb ramp, handle profile; I like it all.

It's a hell for stout folder, and works well for a knife of it's size.

If you need more knife then this, you need a fixed blade.

Big Mike

I gotta say, I too have this knife, and it is a beast of a production knife. The closest comparison that comes to mind would be a Hinderer XM-24 or a Strider SMF. Those are 2x-4x the cost. I was told by Benchmade, at the 2012 SHOT Show, that the 275 was rate at 300 pounds pry force. I know, I know, don't pry with a folder. I get that, but folks do, and apparently Benchmade knows too because they made this knife. My personal opinion is that this is a ton of knife for the money. I believe to get more knife, you are going to pay dearly for incremental gains.

Yes, pay very dearly for gains... in knife status/bragging rights. Though the Adamas is pretty rich for most consumers blood.

I found myself wanting one on my last camping trip, well wanting a hatchet or small axe, but getting by with my Onslaught.

I'd call the Adamas an excellent budget knife for knife enthusiasts, overkill for 90+% of users and probably the best looking/performing knife Benchmade has produced with Siebert.

I had a black one for a while and absolutely adored it. But I traded it for a brown G-10/S35VN Paramilitary 2.

Also, the guy I traded it to is trading it... I really want it back... :(
