Disassembly, Storage, Sharpening, and Anything Else?

Just entering the exciting world of knife purchasing, collecting, sharpening, and enjoyment...therefore I've got some newbie questions I'm hoping you can help me with.

I know that most quality knives offer various options as to where to put the pocket clip. What tool(s) do I need in order to change the position of the pocket clips? My Cryo G10 looks like it takes a very small hex wrench. But I'm sure different knives take difference sizes. I didn't know if there is a relatively inexpensive set that would cover most pocket knives you could recommend?

What do you use to store your knives in so that they are easily accessible but aren't damaged? I don't really want to just throw them all into one large pile in a small box in my closet.

Purchased the Lansky Diamond Ceramic Turn Box sharpener and used it on several old knifes I had...it worked great. Are there any other sharpening items I should have on hand?

Is there anything else I need in order to take care of my knives? ie: something to keep them from rusting/to keep them opening smoothly/etc.

I appreciate all your help and advice!

Most knives use Torx screws. I bought a small Torx driver kit at Home Depot for about $6 dollars. Kershaw sells a tool with their standard bit sizes - T6, T8, and T10, for about $8.

I put my knives in a desk drawer. I use some soft towels between layers of knives. Not perfect but it keeps them in place. The top layer is the ones that I carry most often.

Sharpening is a huge topic. You can spend a ton of money on sharpening gear. If the Lansky is working for you, stick with that for now.

The only knives I worry about oiling are those with carbon steel blades. I use some light mineral oil (usually Norton honing oil) in small amounts

It doesn't have to be complicated.

Glad to hear the Turnbox worked well for you! Most knives use torx screws for the pocket clips, pivots etc. You can find small precision torx drivers at your local big box hardware store. You'll want t-4 through t-10. I think t6 and t-10 are probably the most commonly used. You can get them in individual drivers or one driver that stores the 2 sided bits in the handle. I got one of the interchangeable bit drivers for $6 and keep it in my sharpening bag with a tube of blue thread locker.

Welcome to the sharper side.. Lol..

I use a harbor freight tool kit.. Has all the torx and allen's you could need. About 6$ as well..

For my edc rotation, I just keep them on a thin linen..

Honing oil or Virgin oil, both do the trick.
Virgin oil for knife's I use on food..
But normally, I just make sure they are wiped clean and never put away with finger prints on the blade!

Stopped by the local hardware store tonight and found exactly what I needed...a 'precision' screwdriver set that included T4/5/6/7/8/9/10 along with a lot of other screwdriver heads. Tried it and it worked perfectly (T6) with my Cryo G10.

I really like the looks (although it seems a bit high priced) of this pocket knife holder and it would work perfectly in an area inside my closet...maybe. It has three hooks on it that I could use to hang it but I can't find anywhere that says how wide it is when open (not sure if it would fit in the space I have picked out or not...wife says as long as she can't see it then she doesn't care where I hang it!

Thanks for all the help!
