I picked up a 90 volt dc baldor motor with a gear reducer attached to it. Wanna make a nice slow moving sander for cleaning up the flats on my knife parts. Now I can't decide if I should make a disc sander or a 2 x 72 belt sander with it. Whatcha think?
If I go with the belt sander I guess I'll remove the gear reducer because it would make the belt crawl.

What's the final speed after the gear drive, L6? If it's <1000rpm I'd go with a 9" disc. Imagine how finely sanded you could get your flats!

Under 1000, lol, it's only 50 after the reducer. Guess it might be too slow.

let me know. I am interested in something that will do gear reduction for a frankenstien project I have.

I would also like a slow roasted rotissiereed (sp?) pig!:D
