There are loads of good knives that have been discontinued for one reason or another (or made in limited numbers) but are still readily available… for now! Can you think of any? Share your knowledge!

Me, I’d recommend the US-made Kershaw Zing—an excellent manual flipper/thumb-stud folder designed by RJ Martin that can be had for a very affordable price. They have been replaced by a SpeedSafe assisted, all stainless construction variant made in China.

Another limited-run model I like is the Spyderco R Nishijin—if you’re a fan of the Delica 4 FFG (but maybe want something a bit larger), an R 3 sprint may be for you! Not exactly disco’d yet, but once limited production stock is sold-out, you’ll have to turn to the secondary market if you want one. The Nishijin R has somehow managed to fly pretty low under the radar…

Anyone else care to make a recommendation for knives that are on their way to extinction?

Thanks for reading!

The Kershaw RAM and OD-1 are the two that leap to mind - absolutely fantastic designs, and they only cost around 50$.

I like the RAM so much I bought two.

I think the Buck Vantage was just disco'd, though newer versions are available. The Vantage series was one of the best knife deals in recent years.

Thanks for reminding me about the RAM, DM. Been meaning to try one out for a while...

All of them are being discontinued? Thanks for the heads up, I've been meaning to try them.

I think the original ones (Select, Avid, Pro) are being disco'd, but they are still making the Force versions. I'm pretty sure the Paperstone version is also axed.

I think this is the last year for the Kershaw Junkyard Dog as well. I heat the MT Select Fire will also be disco'd when the Strider collab hits.

The Kershaw Groove series was discontinued and can still be found.

The dropped point version is very similar to the forthcoming Zero Tolerance 0600.
