Hi, I just bought my first Randall on eBay, a stag handle Model 1 7" SS blade. From the photos the knife looks great but has been stored in the sheath and the leather is discolored. I'll store the knife out of the sheath but the damage is already done. Can I clean it or should it be left as is? How about general long-term maintenance on the sheath? Should I use anything on the leather to keep it conditioned?

I can't figure out how to upload a photo, but if anyone wants to take a look it's on eBay completed listings, item# 6610354577. Thanks for any advice.

Congrat's ,If shes gona be a user I would sno -seal the leather ,and live with it like it is , I belive you could send it to Randall and have them clean the blade up , maybe even order a new sheath. :D Changing anything might hurt the value .

Jim,

I don't see that much wrong with your sheath but the mark where the knife's hilt, marked it. Very common. You will be surprised what a little saddle soap and leather treatment will do. Be sure and treat with a leather preservative after the soap.

Regards,

Rhett

Thanks, Rhett. I'm pretty good working with leather and that's just what I was thinking, but wanted an opinion from a collectors standpoint before I went charging ahead. P.S. I'm going to join the society and pay my dues this weekend.
