Just wondering - when a product is discontinued (like the 746), does this mean that MAP pricing no longer applies? Meaning will the price drop on these once discontinued, but while still readily available.

Still on the fence as to getting one - wondering if it makes sense to be patient.

Yes, I believe so. Reason I say that is I've seen several dealers sell discontinued Benchmade models at a discount below MAP. That said they didn't last very long. I want to add I haven't seen this with good sellers though. They tend to sell out without any price drop. Guess it depends on the model. But I do believe the dealers are allowed to sell below MAP after the model is discontinued.

The Mini Onslaught comes up pretty regularly on the exchange so you might want to keep an eye out there too.

I picked that one up off the Exchange on a whim because the price seemed good. I hadn't been looking for one but after getting my hands on it I'm pretty impressed. It fits my medium-sized hands very well. The handle feels great and I like the blade shape and opening hole. The blade is almost a full flat grind but doesn't seem too thin to me as I've seen some others complain about. Overall I'd say pick one up while you can at a decent price. Once they dry up I'm sure the second hand prices will increase.

Edit: I will state two small negatives of the 746. First, the pocket clip is huge and shiny so it's not discreet in the pocket. Second, it could have used a little jimping for the thumb near the blade. Neither issue is significant though.

With some of my current EDC blades:

Get one while you can before they really fetch a premium. Still regret getting rid of mine...it was such a perfect specimen.
Not to mention it was probably the sharpest knife out of box Ive had to date.

I collect Kershaw knives but I have a nib 746 and didn't realize it's being discontinued, I have never carried or used it but I flicked it open a few times when I first bought it and it's one of the smoothest openers I've held. I guess I'll hold on to it for awhile since it's being discontinued, so I assume whatever is in the secondary market is all that there is as I'm sure manufacturing has stopped?

Nice pic! Great to see how much it seems to dwarf the 940. I held it once, and it was very comfy. However between the curve, the wide handles, and the high gloss pocket clip, I figured it would fit like a brick in my pocket.

On the other hand, it is a Lum
