Discontinued Kershaw models in stock at Knifecenter?

I just noticed that Knifecenter recently got some discontinued Kershaw knives in stock -- what's up with that? I hadn't noticed this before. I'm on their mailing list, and I often check their New Products listing, but I only noticed these after browsing their Kershaw section.

Kershaw OD-1 http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=KS1775&

Kershaw Storm II - http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=KS1475ST&

Kershaw R.A.M - http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=KS1910&

What? It shows as discontinued for me too now. That's weird. According to my order receipt, they were in stock,

Kershaw Knives RAM Flipper Hawk-Lock 3-1/8" Satin Plain Edge Blade
In Stock

Kershaw OD-1 Flipper 2-15/16" Satin Plain Blade, Black G10 Handles
In Stock

Kershaw Ken Onion Storm 3-1/2" Combo Edge Blade Frame lock
In Stock

Could it be because of this? "Availability limited to stock on hand."

As in, instead of going to "Out of Stock", it goes to discontinued because of that?

I have one of those Storms. It was such a terrible knife LOL Large, but thin handle, so it wasn't very comfortable in the hand. The finish wasn't the best, easily rusting in spots, and the pocket clip seemed designed specifically to catch on every doorframe you passed. It's in my storage box, has been for years.

jac_solar, I do have to thank you - the Kershaw OD-1 you linked was not available to order, but Knifecenter did have a limited edition orange scaled OD-1 available. I ordered that the second I saw it, as I've been wanting one of those. Thanks!

Oh, nice! I don't quite understand how Knifecenters site works, though. I've only seen the one I linked to on Knifecenter. Do you have a link to the Orange scaled one?

I had also been looking for an OD-1 for awhile -- there were a couple available on the bay, but cost around 100$ or so, and since I live in Norway, I'd like to order a couple of knives that I want if I'm ordering from the U.S -- the primary shipping cost is more or less the same whether it's 1 knife or 5 knives.

Not a lot of vendors allow you to combine shipping on the bay, or have the knives I want. Some vendors allow you to add some of their products to a cart, but every product in the cart still has a shipping rate for some reason. And if the product only has "Buy It Now", I'm not sure if it's possible to combine the items. If I ask the vendor to combine the items, would it still be possible to finish the transaction on Ebay?

It looks pretty nice though!

KnifeCenter is weird about this....
I got my Spyderco Embassy just about 3 months ago, ordered directly off KCs website. After my order, the page went back to "Discontinuted".
I even posted a topic here asking for info about it, i.e. did it appear to be used, or a customer return?

Maybe every now and then, KnifeCenter "cleans house" on their inventory and finds some old models they forgot they had, and puts them up for sale on their site...?

All I know is I was pretty shocked to see an Embassy for sale on such a popular site well after Spyderco discontinued them....

Yeah, that makes sense.

Also, maybe the manufacturers themselves find some remaining stock of a discontinued model, and ships them/offers them to vendors along with their newer models, or directly sell them to the vendors, or maybe they offer vendors to buy a package deal of "remaining inventory" at a price.

Customer service says I got the last of the stock -- so, it seems like vendors occasionally get stock of items that have been discontinued for awhile? I did not know about this.

Thanks for getting that link up, Witty. I was just about to do that. There must have been only two or three available. Glad we both got one!

Oh, absolutely! When I bought it, I thought it was a fantastic knife. It's large in hand, satisfyingly heavy, and it does make for a good yardwork knife, provided you have gloves on. It just had some flaws which I felt kept it from being something I'd want to carry around every day.

I just called and found that mine, too, was truly in stock and has already shipped! This is why I periodically check BladeHQ - they tend to have discontinued knives pop up. I didn't know Knifecenter did so until now, so I'll definitely be adding them to my list!
