I was asked to list discontinued items for 2002.

Here are items discontinued and none remain in stock:
  • Sogwinder II
  • JetEdge I
  • JetEdge II
  • Night Vision
  • TiNi Mini AutoClips & AutoClips (all versions, except X-42 models)
  • Deluxe Pocket PowerPlier (only the "Deluxe" version)
  • Government (Government Agent will be the standard/only Government model)
  • SOG Tech (otherwise known as the SOG Tech I; the SOG Tech II was discontinued last year)
Here are items that will be discontinued throughout 2002 as we sell out of them:
  • Stingray
  • Cocobolo Stingray
  • ToolClip
  • TiNi PowerPlier
The purpose for discontinuing any product is predominately low sales. A secondary (and much smaller) reason supporting the low sales rationale is the fact that SOG can only support so many products from a "marketing" viewpoint. At some point, we’d have too many knives/tools in production and spread ourselves too thin. If we were a larger company, it would be easier to have more products in our line.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

I'm very sad to see the Stingray die.:( That is the best traditional small but very stout lock back knife on the market.

There are some Night Visions for sale on E-bay if you want a good Blade they are nice!

Sorry newbie question. How did the Tech II look like?? I am intrested in a tech 1 i saw at a show recently and now i hear there was a tech II?

Anyone got pics?

Just imagine a Tech I (5" blade) with a 7" blade! :D Bingo, you have a Tech II.

hmmm intresting.. Maybe i should wait and see if any tech 2 shows up at any knife show before i commit

jjcoolay: Get 'em both. Though you could count yourself lucky to find a Tech II anywhere. Personally, if it boils down to just having one, it would have to be the shorter Tech I. It has an interesting *Ricasso.
Also, would be neat if a kydex sheath be customised for under arm carry. Now, that's really packing it solid!
Couldn't find any pix for Tech II, but it really does look like the SEAL 2000 minus zytel handle and grey powder coating.

Discontinued models? Sad to note that some of the pioneering models will be retired from the line. On the other hand, what can I say?? I will never have the pleasure of owning a Night Vision. Duh.

Krizzard, out.

WOW,

Another Noobie question, I've never seen a Seal 2k without the powder coating, I have seen a Seal 2k with a half ( blak/blue maby TiNi coating) anyone know what that is? It looks Kick Ass on the Seal 2k. :D

Any picks of it (black/blue 1/2 coating)

I have to agree. It is a superb knife, but I suppose it isnt fashionable anymore :barf: . Some years back I used one in a rope test against a much larger sheath knife, ( Benchmade Delta Raider ); I failed to sever the rope ,( 1/2 inch thick ) with the DR, but did with the Stingray! More a test of my technique than anything else, ( the DR was an amazing chopper with a great blade design ), it was still impressive performance for a sub 3inch bladed folder!

Just ordered myself a pair while I can!
