It's a lubricant/rust preventive called Boesheild T-9, developed by Boeing to stick to steel parts and protect them in marine and salt air environs. My khukuris are presently getting some.

Catch: Not for food prep applications.

IIRC, Boeshield is also really good for table saw tables.
