Discrete wifi-enabled security camera recommendations?

I'm having a pretty nasty issue with a seemingly psychotic (and definitely drunken) Russian neighbor. He lives on the sixth floor, we're on the ground floor. Last night he was repeatedly kicking and punching our door, scaring the living hell out of my kids and wife (truth be told, I wasn't crazy about it either). We called the cops several times. The second time they came, three officers took him out of the building, hog-tied. Of course, he'll be released at some point. Which brings me to my request ........

I'd like to mount a small surveillance camera somewhere in the hall with a clear view of our door. The idea is to get some evidence on video to hand over to the cops. Drilling through walls and running a wire isn't really an option, so it'd need to run on a battery and be picked up on my computer via wi-fi.

Anyone familiar with this sort of technology?

Update: The cops have confirmed that they just took him to the drunk tank to sleep it off, and have released him.

Boy that sounds worse that rough. I've had neighbors like that when I used to live in apartment complexes. One particular instance, some teenage gang banger types were fiddling under the hood with their "lowrider", my guess is they were adding a stereo amp or something. Later that night I awoke to the sights and sounds of the local fire department. The car had gone up in flames, and the car port caught on fire. Imagine that.

Home security stores have a wide array of small wifi cameras. What works too in a pinch is a cell phone video. Document the time and any audio of screaming/pounding on the door.

There are several, I suspect that most of them are very similar, (re-brands from the same OEM) Which ever you choose, be sure to set up the security on it yourself, as most of them have almost no security as default. Also, its would be safe to assume that anyone else can view the feed (don't go start using it in the bedroom....) if you have a home security or "spy" store locally they may be able to rent you some kit for a short time, if thats all you need.

Just be sure to check the local laws where ever you are. Recording people in a common area may or may not be legal. Also keep in mind that although you are trying to protect your family, the neighbors may not be happy if they find out the foreigner a few doors down is recording their children playing in the hall. Not trying to discourage you, but staying on the good side of the local police in a situation like this is important.

Generally, photographing and video capture in "public" spaces is allowed. Doing so in private spaces gets into various legal issues depending on where you live.

I don't know what part of Europe you are in but, I would talk to the local Police to understand your legal options.

Sounds to me like you're just going to poke the bear.

If you are in Russia, local LEO's probably will not do more than what they have already done~take him away for a sleep over. Judging by your account it sounds like

your are somewhere in Eastern Europe. Good luck. I have an A~hole neighbor adjoining our property in upstate New York who comes up weekends, gets

drunk, blasts crappy music and must have a scanner because whenever we have called the troopers, it gets turned off moments before they arrive.

Sometimes people just suck.
