, there is no more room on the desk or credenza. Does anyone have ideas on wall display, desk top, hanging?? I think someone once mentioned a coat hanger for mounting. Without the search function, it is time consuming to do a search.

Thanks
Jim

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

Jim I hung two Kuhkuri's on the head of our bed.It is one of the tall water bedframes with a standard mattress and I thought it would be a right handy place and better than under my pillow.

I used a regular wood screw with one of those fancy washers that works in place of a countersink.I scewed this into a predetermined amount of rope with a knot in it for the Hanuman. The scabbard slides inside the rope and catches on the sash buttons.Looks real nice.

The 18" AK is hung on a piece of coat hanger. I cut the bottom section off and using a pair of needle nose pliers I formed a circle to hold the screw. I then made two 90* bends in the rod.The 1st. one right at the circle --O like that then another one about 5/8" up in the same direction to the length I wanted and then formed another circle. The finished hardware looks like this straight on. O-------O The 2nd circle is to keep from getting hurt on as well as allowing the loop in the frog to pass over it without snagging.
I found that when it is installed the longer piece needs turned out about 15* to 20* to let everything work smoothly.Mine now slides off very quickly and smooth and quiet.
Until I made this slight adjustment it would hang up just a tad getting it off and I would have to turn the scabbard to remove it.

Since I am getting so many I am thinking of taking a board and some dowels about 3/4" and 1/4" and making a mounting that will hold several.
I will put equal spaced holes in the board and glue the cut to size and drilled 3/4" dowels with the 1/4" dowels already glued in place and dry into them and make sure everything is
square and even. A person could make several of thee the same size or make them in sizes that would make a nice pyramid shape when hung one under the other. The possibilities are endless.

Sheesh!! I can't believe all the mis-spelled words in that.It seems that I was hangin Hunaman on some fish eggs.hehehe with a not. Does that mean He was hanging by just a smell in mid-air??

Hi Jim:

I think it was Yvsa that mentioned the coat hangar trick. Over on an old knifeforum thread there is a piscture of John Powell's collection which covers one entire wall -- wall hangars in the truest sense of the word!

Most folks I know do not keep their collection under the bed as I do but go to the walls instead.

Our khukuris which are displayed at the National Knife Museum are in cases under glass.

Uncle Bill:
I know why the Himalayan Import Kuhkuri's are on display at the National Knife Museum. It is because they are the best examples in the world of what the true using everyday Kuhkuri represents.

I have come to know you as a man that doesn't toot his own horn and lets Nepal and his products prove themselves to the satisfaction of everyone who buys one. It is like you say " 80 % of H.I.s' customers return to buy again and again."
With that said...

I haven't ever seen, that I recall, where you said what the medals and ribbons represent that are displayed with the Kuhkuri's.
(I can't recall where I even seen that pic now,but I know I have!)

So... Just what are these medals and how many have Himalayan Imports and its' Kuhkuris' won all over the world???

Or... (Knowing how mistaken I can be sometimes.) are these medals that represent the Gurkhas role in making these great knives famous??

I'm braistorming on how to mount my super Salyan on my wall. I'll probably go with the display board method after I dig out my woodworking tools. (such as they are)
I think I may have to put an extra brace in the wall to suport it! I'll let you know what I come up with when I am able to get it done.

Mike

Keep it simple.
I take a piece of 20 gauge wire wrap it discreetly thru a gap where the frog is constructed, make a small loop and hang it on a nail pounded into the wall. To balance the weight, I put a small wire brad into the wall where the scabbard chape rests on it.
The knives come off the wall easily, can be moved around and no major construction is involved.
Hope that helps.

Great idea, John. If you can't get the knives off the wall easily wall mounting is not the way to go.

Yvsa, none of the photos mentioned were taken by me and the medals mentioned are old Gurkha medals so I'm told. But I have no way of knowing for sure.

Somewhere I think I said I let the knives do the talking for us. They speak honestly and clearly.

i found that you can easily drive the blade right into a wall...

hey new feature!
built in hanger!

Thanks Uncle Bill.

John I hung the Hanuman similiar to what you suggested except I put the whole scabbard through a looped rope as there is no frog or opening in the back. He is easily removed this way for use or to examine.

Mike you can do the coat hanger wire trick except you would need a more solid heavier wire. What do those weigh with the scabbard and all, about 5 to 5 1/2 Lbs.?
You might try looking in the hardware store screw bins for an L shaped lag screw or the plant hangers for potted plants.

When I see different things I try to imagine all the things it might be used for. I have come up with some real Rube Goldberg ideas that works and that's all that matters.
