I'm looking to build a display case for my pocketknives. It'll be a little large and hang on the wall. Hold approximately 10 pocketknives.

For those of you that have one already. What design did you end up going with? What little details or features do you have that you like and/or what other features do you wish it had?

Pictures would be appreciated as well. I want to build a nice one.

Over time, will magnets harm pocketknives or do I need to find a different way to display them?

I got two questions:

1. Will magnets harm pocketknives over time? Talking decades.

2. Can you display them open/half open or overtime will that weaken the springs bad?

Question #1: I don't think so. Unless it's some military grade mega-magnet, I doubt it.
Question #2: Displaying knives half open typically doesn't damage them. Springs and torsion bars are the stress points when in a half open position, and with modern design and quality of older knives, I doubt you'll have any issues.

Permanent magnets left in contact with metal may slightly magnetize it over a very long period of time (it would have to be neodymium probably for a visible effect), but this is temporary, and would in no way damage the knife.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Do you mean the magnetism of the pocketknife is temporary? Kinda like static electricity wears away?

I'm just looking at inexpensive circle ones you buy at home depot and lowes.
