Hey guys I'm just starting to build a collection and I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction to some cheaper display cases?
I'm looking for less than $150, plenty of room, and the way it mounts or sits doesnt matter.

thanks fellas

Hello there, This is my first ever message here on blade so lets see if this even is how u do it.. I see ur lookin for a display for some knives. I have a few of them but im not sure there what ur looking for. they are actual knife displays like a store would use. Thats what i used them for. 2 are counter top displays that have 2 sides and they spin, the 3rd is a wall hanging one. Its black and has little black straps that hold them in. They are all branded display cases. Thanks

If you have access to a band saw, it should be quite easy to make something like this yourself.

I lucked out. As my wife's collection of 'Harmony Kingdom' boxes increased, she out grew her earlier display cases. Good & bad news - her favorite local collectible store went belly up two years back - but we were able to buy her actual 'Harmony Kingdom' floor mounted glass cases for her room. I inherited her two counter mounted glass cases, one with a locking floor base in which I store spares, sheaths, and empty boxes. They are both glass on all six sides, with two fixed height glass shelves and a mirrored bottom shelf. Both have two 50W Quartz lamps in the top. One was $50, the other $75 - both from that shop years ago when they changed some of their brands (You can paint them to cover up the brand.). A nice offshoot - they were keyed the same - one key opens both displays and the storage. Check local collectible shops for their excess - great way to display - and a modicum of security.

I've seen the PRC-made (Harbor Freight) mechanic's chest, sale priced $65-$80, used, too - but that offers no security. Someone could walk off with the whole case! Neither does an acrylic 5-slot stand, like the Buck #5519 (Model #21005 - ~$5-$6), but it is effective - looks good on a lit shelf, too.

Try www.customdisplays.com huge selection, great prices, be sure to get the
3" deep case for larger fixed blade knives.

Smokey Mountain Knife Works has some nice cases too you can check them out SMKW.com, whatever you do make sure you buy wooden ones, my girlfriend bought me one once that had a felt backing but was just thick cardboard (she didn't know any better) so when I put my knives in it and closed the lid the extra width that the knives added pusshed the back out and the lid failed to hold the blades in place

Lionknife, Good recommendation for custom displays. I ordered 3 of their display boxes for three knives I gave to buddies of mine when they went back overseas last summer. Just make sure you check the box size and go by the knife size and i/s measurements, not the overall. Great looking wood and craftsmanship.
Be safe.
