was just wondering if any of you fellows have axes displayed in your home. or if you have any good ideas on the subject. ive been trying to think of a nice way to do this, so i thought i would ask you folks...
pics would be nice;)

Well I room with an Eastern Orthodox fella who likes to keep our classy post-modern appartment in tip top shape, but once you open the door to my room you get bombarded with man toys-guns, bows, beer, books, axes, packs, knives, sleeping bags, scandinavian relics, flags... right now I have a stainless steel gear shelf with a parachute cord rack tied between two rungs that I use for hanging my axes. It's efficient but ugly. Basically I wrapped parachute cord around the rungs and tied it with a cinch knot and took out all the slack. Now I can hang all my heads on it alongside the gear shelf for quick easy access-grab the head you want and you're off!

A more classy option is this guy.... http://www.hurttilanpaja.suntuubi.com/?cat=14

in finland who handmakes some nice mounting products. A few of his wallmounted racks would look amazing with some classic axes hanging from them.

I saw this on e-bay recently.

It seems like it might be a bit ungainly when full of axes. I've been designing an axe rack in my head, I'll post pics when I get around to building it. It will be not so much a display as a rack to store them efficiently.

thanks for all the post fellows!
yeah, display may have been the wrong word. no one comes up here to the mountains too see us anyway...
im just trying to think of a way to let them 'hang out'...

I know you said you aren't so much looking to "display", but for what it's worth...
A while back I bought three decorative tomahawk heads simply as decorations, made a custom haft for each and mounted all three in a large shadow box. It looks good and hangs over the TV. But if you're actually going to be using your axes then a shadow box wouldn't be the ideal way to go
