I had a couple of hickory logs laying in the back yard that I decided to put to good use. I split the logs with the Bahadur and cut the notches with my 15"AK so now I dont have to hide the khukuris in the closet!
all in all this probably took about an hour and a half, so easy to do with good khukuris

Very nice! And that's a sweet bahadur, I have yet to get one. Are you going to treat the wood somehow?

the bahadur is a sweet knife, I need to get mine sharper, as it is the AK outchopps it even though its several ounces lighter. Its got an amazingly ergonomic handle though and is really good at splitting and batonning wood

Ill probably leave the wood as is, I like the rough hewn look, and now Im debating on whether or not its hickory or is sourwood... Ill be off chewing on woodchips

Well done Issun! Once again we had the same idea, but I was unable to execute on it. I made a wall hanging mount for a khukuri out of oak and it was my intention to carve it using the khukuri it was meant to display, but I was unable to pull it off - the oak was too hard and the cuts I had to make too precise. You successfully delivered the goods!

I like it. A little stain and urethane and it'll be fine furniture for your living room!
