This weekend I was displaying my Buck collection at the Las Cruces Gun & Knife Show. Here's members Kim & Cara. One of my Trap Club buddies was taking the picture and made a uncanny joke. DM

Here's most of the models I displayed during this show. Things can get rushed on a Sat. morning before the show doors open and only one cup of coffee. Thanks, DM

Thanks David! It was, as always, a treat to be able to chat with you and your Mrs.

I assure you it was our pleasure and thank you for serving. Plus, the weather was just awesome. Did you find any good buys? DM

The weather was pretty grand that day. Not too cold but not too hot. Unfortunately, didn't find anything I could not live without. Checked around for those Vaquero grips but ended up ordering a set from the base here. That's OK though, leaves me extra play money for next time around. :P

Did you ever find a good shotty?

Damn I go to school here at NMSU and didn't even know about the gun show till it was over!

That is unfortunate. I believe it is even right next to the campus? I think there may be another show in the spring. I could shoot you a VM next time it comes around and maybe we could add another Buck fan to the party? :)

Yep, right across the street from the campus. It was Homecoming weekend with much going on. I did not make a deal on a new shotgun. Plus, the Colonel didn't feel like going out to eat so we fed him at home. DM

That would explain that parade they had going on. Well hope the drive home went well.

Almost forgot to mention Brplatz, you would also get to check out David's awesome display. The pictures don't really do justice to be able to check out the work he has put into them.

I would have liked to see it for sure! My buck collection extends to and older 110 and a vantage pro, next time I'll be there though

Thank you Kim, gents like you make it worth it. brplatz, the next show I'll display at is in March. I'll give you a reminder. My table is in the West room and I've had the same one since 2008, displaying my Buck collection. If you look at post #4 you'll notice a Buck display standing at the end of the table. That display has all the 700 series and Buck's sharpening stones and devices for that era in it. It made it on to the table just not at the time of this photo. O-well... DM

Way to represent David! The display looked great too along with the banner.

Kim is that a pistol on your side? If so, that's our 2nd Amendment being exercised the way it's supposed to be.

You guys look like you had a blast.

Thanks David....always nice to see photos of your display and to get your report of the weekend's show right here.:thumbup::thumbup:

How I would love to be in NM sometime and see one of those "western" shows.

Putnam, Thanks. At this show All kinds of folks show up to ask about Buck models they have. What year it was mfg., what blade steel and how much is it worth today, ect... Plus, some time is spent dispelling Buck myths concerning how many are actually foreign made. So, yes it is a fun shin-dig. Plus, I don't miss out on the in-house bar-b-que beef sandwiches as they're excellent. DM

Stumps, yes it is a long ways from many of the collectors strong holds. Still, it's a good show location for us to do and only 140 miles each way and we have a chance to care for the Colonel, a Great American.
DM

Great job, Dave. Always good to see your show pictures. Good that you answer Buck questions and get rid of myths that all Buck knives are made in China. Sellers on the bay are good at keeping that myth alive.

Awesome! Looks like you had a great time :)

Chris, Yes, it was a great time for us to visit with some old friends and meet some new collectors. A man and his wife stopped by whom I hadn't seen before and his first question was, 'do you have any of the 25yr. Anniversary knives?' I was surprised someone even knew Buck and the Club had offered those recently. It happened that I had brought my 110, 25yr. model with D2 steel.
Well, he was floored how nice they turned out once he got a close look at one. DM

Thank you for the terrific photos of your Buck splashout at your local show. You have excellent taste in Bolo Tie attire. :) Do you carry your display on the road with the knives in the cases or do you set each case up at the venue? Some of my collection gives me the fidgets even thinking about taking it on the road. How much of a beating to the cutlery, if any, is unavoidable going on the road trip?
