Displaying knives - looking for suggestions, inspiration

I have a sizeable collection, most bought with use in mind, but I now have more than I will ever practically use. I've tended to hide them away so visitors won't think I'm a freak (I live in DC!), but I'm thinking I should come out of the closet and put a few of the prettier ones on display, given the amount of time and money I've spent acquiring them.

I bought a display case to put a few of my fancier folders in - looks nicer in person than the crappy picture below, but you get the idea.

I also have a number of fixed blades with nice wood handles that I would like to show off, but the case won't work for them because the handles are much thicker. I'm particularly proud of this matching pair with ironwood / G10 handles and would like to put them on show with the sheaths (the Armoralleather sheath for the SAR-8 is a thing of beauty in its own right).

So, question is - Do you have any recommendations on how to display some pretty fixed blades (but still leave them accessible to be fondled or used as necessary)? What have you used to display a number of knives together - hung them on walls, placed in display cabinets, etc? I'm particularly hoping forumites will send a few pictures of their displays so I can get inspiration.

Thanks.

try a lighted lockable curio cabinet. lock won't keep thieves out but it will keep guests from getting blood on your knives.
where i live you can usually find something like that at a flea market or auction house for less than a 100 bucks.

Just bought (arrived yesterday) a "wooden collector's chest" from Sportsman's guide. For the price, it is a very nice box. Have 4 drawers plus a main top one.

Thanks for the pointer. If it looks good in the flesh, that will definitely go down on the list of possibilities.
