I am assuming you are referring to the 275 not 279. It is possible that you got a fake, there are some really good ones out there unfortunately. Or one of the omega springs is possibly broken. It should not have a weak detent like you are describing.

Can't say without seeing the knife.

I could have sworn it was a 9 not a 5 but I’ll double check after work. If it’s fake it’s the best fake I’ve ever seen.

You are right, it says 275 not 279. I guess I need my eyes checked.

In theory I suppose.

I prefer folders with a strong detent, as I have had too many close calls or mishaps with ones that don't.

My Axis-lock folders don't get carried as much anymore due to this.

The ease with which you can shake it open is a consequence of that big heavy blade. The springs are the standard large omega springs. But the blade on the Adamas is hefty. All that extra mass means the springs are trying to arrest more weight. A light shake and inertia and gravity do the rest. While it is easier to shake it open, I have never had a problem with it in the pocket.

The Adamas family is one of my favorites. Big and beefy but still with decent cutting geometry. And I've been very happy with Benchmade's Cruwear at 63-65 HRC. Good wear resistance and excellent toughness and edge stability. That steel just takes anything I throw at it.

One I had also had what I would describe as a weak detent. Thought it was pretty common for that heavy bladed knife?
