Hi Schradeaholics,
Just thought I would share a discovery with you fine folks. Seems a collector is dissolving his extensive collection due to Illness on eBay using ID "larryhd1998". Second photo in auctions shows about 12-14 display cases arranged in front of a fireplace, and you can't see much of the fireplace.
Most of his Sunday 4/24 auctions are Schrades. May want to keep an eye on this seller's listings for a while, looks like no junk. It's a shame someone doesnt buy at least some of the cases intact to preserve his collecting accomplishment, if you know what I mean.
Hope I don't create a stampede or have everyone stepping on each other's toes(while bidding). If it's already old news around here, forgive my goof. Figured it would be better to make sure other collectors knew than to worry about making a "foolpah" as they say in France.

Guys... meet Howard. I can vouch for him, and I am guilty of bringing him here. How about a nice welcome, but hold off on the socks, margueritas and pingpong balls for a little bit.

Welcome to the forum Howard. Glad you came. I checked the sellers wares. NIIIIICE! thanks for the tip. I think he has been selling for a while now, and is not nearing the end of his collection yet. I do wish I were flush enough to make him an offer. Alas, I can only drool and hope one falls through the cracks, as does happen occasionally.

Welcome Howard,

Jump on in....the water's fine here...... ;)

Schrades are fine as well (Content).

A bad thing about the Schrade downfall... well, there are lots of bad aspects, but one of them is the higher prices we have to pay. But, as the breakup of this collection shows, plenty of oppurtunity for us to at least have a chance at getting some of the rarer, desirable issues.

And for us newer collectors, it is a golden opportunity to put together a base collection as the distributors and dealers empty their inventories, and Schrade drawer queens from across the nation come on the market. A few are bringing extrordinary prices, but for the most part they are selling well below their MSRP. A good selection of users are being sold by hunters and fishermen. Yes, the rarer older ones are bringing top money, but in the long run.... what is the worth of a collectable knife? It is worth whatever a collector is willing to pay, and a seller will take. Large extensive collections will come on the market for years to come. But now is the time to get any newer pieces before the flood of knockoffs appear. Imagine what a new collector will face two years from now. Is it a Schrade, or Memorex?
