DISSTOW PORTER files (steel type?)

I have a large file marked in all caps DISSTOW PORTER at the handle right above a hole .

17.25 "from tip to bottom and 1.25" wide x .25"

Dose any know if it is 1095 ??

It's actually a Disston Porter file. The best info I've found points to it being made of "spring steel", so likely not 1095.
 
Spring steel is a carbon steel right ? sorry i just found one and was going to try my hand at a little DIY .
youtube is going to be the death of me lol
 
Yes, spring steel is usually carbon steel. 5160 is an example of a modern carbon spring steel used in cutlery
