Merry Christmas to me! Finally, the Boreal by Diving Sparrow Knifeworks came in the mail yesterday! I have to say I am very impressed. I knew from these forums that Abe Elias (the man behind Diving Sparrow) has a reputation for making very comfortable and ergonomic handles and now I see why. I love the layering of the black paper scales on top of the natural canvas micarta; very tastefully done. His sheath is far beyond what I expected too and I'd put it alongside any other high-quality custom leather sheath that I've ever had.

An extra custom touch I wanted Abe to add to the knife was a Christian cross on the blade and he obliged. The laser etching came out perfect. He usually makes the Boreal out of 1095 but I wanted 01 and he accommodated me on that as well. I am very happy and can honsetly say there is nothing I would change on this knife. I have no doubt it will perform great as my new camp/bushcrafter. Can't wait to get her dirty!

That is a very handsome knife. The handle contouring looks amazing. I like your choice of handle materials and pins. Very classy!

Congratulations!!

Looks like one excellent do it all field knife! And I like the looks of the handle too

Thanks. Yeah, I am still in awe over Abe's craftsmanship. Unfortunately, I have yet to hit the bush with this thing to see what it can really do.

Another backyard photo...

Abe just keeps getting better and better.

Great looking setup.

I went with the Boreal too several years ago:
