Dixie Gun Works Primitive Bowie

I've Heard a lot of people talk about the Atlanta Cutlery or AC Primitive bowie so I figured I would talk a little bit about this primitive bowie, It's not quite as nice but it is half the price, (hey that rymed ) anyway it resembles the AC primitive bowie but it is BIGGER! this thing is HUGE with an overall length of 19 1/2''

but I like the basic look of it. I do own the Ac Primitive also here is a comparison of the 2

Obviously there is a reason for the price difference, but the dixie is still an ok knife for half the price. I might buy another one to keep nice cause if you can't tell from the pics I have definitely used the dixie. so what do ya think?

I've always liked the Dixie primitive bowie. I like the shape over the A.C.
I like the idea of a brass "spine" but have wondered what problems might arise if it is in and out of it's sheath often.

Would you be able to give a comparison in more detail between the Dixie bowie and the AC one please? Knife weight, sizes, blade thickness, fit and finish, sheaths etc.

Dixie Gun Works have a knife that looks almost exactly like the AC bowie. It is their Frontier Bowie.

andy, well as far as the weight,they are both pretty heavy, the ac is about a 1 1/2 lbs., and the dixie weighs 2 lbs.they both have brass spines and with them the blade thickness on the ac is 3/16 and the dixie is a quarter of an inch. The finish of the ac is definitely better and thats probably the reason for the price difference???? in my opinion, the sheaths are pieces of crap, and because of the thick brass spines, they should have made the sheaths bigger to allow for that. If I was gonna choose between these knives I would pick the Ac primitive over the dixie.
Hey Keith, I thought the Dixe Fronteir bowie was the same knife as the ac Primitive????????????? is their any differences????

There are some minor differences, i.e. the choil is a different shape, but overall they are incredibly similar.

you know the Ac horn handle bowie (the one that resembles the iron mistress) ?? dixie has that knife but they call it the iron mistress. is there any differences in those two???????
