DIY Blackwash?

I'm really interested in doing a blackwash or stonewash on one of my cheaper knives, but I'm unsure of the process and I don't have access to a tumbler for a stonewash. I want a result similar to how Kershaw/ZT does their Blackwash, a nice dark finish would really tickle my fancy. Any idea on how that'd be possible?

Would Duracoat or Cerakote work in it's place?

Depending on the steel you're working with you can achieve a black color with ferric chloride, hydrochloric (muriatic) acid, sulfuric acid or electrochemical etching. If you have a good power supply electrochemical etching would be the fastest.
