Is there any "home" method of etching a blade. I don't like the idea that I need to splash $100 for a machine and than use in twice a month. Knife making is just my hobby not profesion. So, any ideas how to etch a blade without buying etching machine?
Thanks

There is no need to buy an etching machine for 100$, a battery charger also will do the job.

OK, I hava a charger but what about scentils. Any idea how to make one and how to use it than?

Check the archives there has been a bunch of discussion on that, also on setting up the charger for use as an etching machine.

You can get stencil material from K&G Finishing Supplies that goes in your typewritter. A roll will last for a long time, I only use one stencil per etch, but they say it is reusable. It makes a decent stencil but you must type over it 4 or 5 times to get it to work right. I've also heard that you can use a pin type printer to produce designs, logos etc. Never tried the printer thing.
Good Luck,
