Here ya go guys.

I got a hair up my ass last night or something.

Once I started on this I could not stop. I was up till 5 am.

I trashed the living room floor, kydex bits all over the place. Tools everywhere.

Its finished and I am very pleased with the results.

In the Arfcom Blade Forum!

Finished product.

Thanks for that .... it helps to give me an idea of what can be done with Kydex. The poll at that link is quite amusing!

I think I might be able to see what is wrong with that picture link. I will have a go at trying to post it for you...

Regards... Coote.

Yep, gotta get me one for mine. Took the wood sheath they come with to the desert for 2 weeks and the sheath swelled to where I couldn't get the blade back into it after using it. Returned to normal when I got it home.

Khukuris are beautiful implements. But I can't come up with enough reasons to justify getting one. I imagine that they do a lot of things a machete can do, but because they are heavier they are probably better for chopping thicker wood.

Nearly everything I do with a knife suits a smaller blade according to my way of thinking: filleting and boning fish, skinning animals, cutting up meat, food preparation, odd cutting jobs when I set traps etc.

Occasionally I need to chop something, but I have more hatchets than any normal person might need.

But I occasionally fantasize about getting a bigger knife. I have thought about getting something like a Cold Steel Trailmaster, but there are probably brands you folk would prefer in comparison (I don't get to see many different types in my part of the world). Furthermore, I should really make one if I need one that desperately to save the dollars. But some of those khukuris seem fairly rugged and not too expensive....and thousands of Ghurkas can't be wrong.

I know that nobody needs to justify why they need another knife, but I would be grateful to read why you Khukuri fans prefer your Khukuris over similar sized knives of the bowie type class.

Well,

A good khuk replaces a hatchet, machete, small shovel, sickle, hammer, and even a draw knife.

You can chop wood, split logs, and even fight with it.

While I do carry a smaller 7" ww2 Camillus Mk2, my khukuri is alawys with me.

Saves weight. Looks cool. Very handy.
