Always wanted to try one of these, but just too expensive. Stumbled across a youtube DIY. Turned out I had all but the acorn nuts and plastic or whatever it's called in my garage. Used a $1.98 cutting board from Walmart and $1.15 for two cap nut at HomeDepot. Had everything else laying around. Pretty cool!

It yields the perfect amount of 12 pieces cut into 2.187" squares with a target round of about 2.0" at 3/16" thickness equals 2.25" height. I used 3/8" threaded all rod for the center support rod. You don't have to use leather as a handle or have a fancy shape. It could be a broom handle. You don't hold it like a hammer, just the upper portion. You don't have to use brass or stainless for the weight. It could be a painted flat piece of steel. Enjoy!
