Who wants an almost free DIY 4" kit?
All I require in return is a nice write up tutorial, complete with pictures, for others to learn from that I will include in the new site when the DIY kits are added to the database.
I have 2 kits available in my Gettysburg Pattern, One black and one in dark brown. Body, Welts, Firesteel Loop and Drop Loop are all included, all parts are die cut for perfection and split to he appropriate weight. Also included are the snaps for the drop loop and thread in whichever color you want. You will need to hit the local hobby store or Tandy for needles, a snap setter, hole punch kit, glue, sandpaper, and dye if you chose to use it on the edges.
I do not offer assistance in assembling your kit, that is the 'yourself' part in DIY. Diomedes put up a great tutorial that you can learn from.
I have a half dozen models slated for kit status, I will also start offering by the square foot for people who are clinically insane and enjoy cutting everything out of 14 ounce leather themselves.
Patience is your number one tool, and best of all, it is completely free.
Before posting: "I want in!"
A. Must be a contributing Fiddleback forum member with reasonable post activity. I will pick from the people who want in.
B. I supply my part of the deal, you supply yours. If you don't have the time or resources to fulfill your end then don't take the spot from a fellow forum member who can. Karma sucks.
C. Tutorial and pics become property of PLC. I will immortalize your tutorial on the web site and you get to feel good about contributing to the cumulative knowledge of mankind.
D. I only have one black and one brown available, first person gets to pick their choice, other person gets which one is left.
E. 4" kits are for 4" blades. Kephart, Arete, Recluse, Bushcrafter, Etc. No Muks, or oddball shapes. You can get creative and shorten them up to use with smaller blades, Hint: shorten from the top not the bottom.
F. Shipping is on me, U.S. only.
Why don't I do it myself?
I've built over 20k sheaths, I'm overqualified. I do not think me assembling a kit would give realistic expected results for the average DIY'er.
What you get get:
What you can end up with if you have a little patience.
