Has anyone had any luck with any DYI stonewashed blade techniques?

I'd like to give it a try.

check out youtube.
My nephew did the can in the dryer. Worked great.

I've stone washed a couple folder blades with round rocks picked out of the yard and put into a half gallon Tupperware container with a little WD-40. I don't like the idea of putting the whole thing in the dryer, but it may be fine. I did mine by hand while watching tv in the evening. Took forever (and my arms were exhausted :D), but I got decent results. I wouldn't really recommend this method, though, just due to the time and effort. There's a guy on youtube who does his with ceramic polishing triangles in one of those cheap Harbor Freight rock tumblers (~$45-50) and seems to get good results. I already have several pounds of media (also tried by hand, didn't work well that way), so I think I'll just break down and shell out for a tumbler before I do any more.
