DIY traction coating?

Hey all,

Long-time lurker and first-time poster.

I've been admiring the Buck Paklite series of knives for about a year now. These knives are meant for field use, with no weight/bulk from a handle and sections of the knife being cut out to shave down the weight. I have used a number of different knives for gutting deer/cleaning them, and the paklite series always looked nice to me from a weight and size perspective. However, after I got my first few knives in s30v, I really wanted a lightweight knife in s30v so I wouldn't have to deal with a knife getting dull on me partway through my chore of butchering or whatever.

I just saw that Buck released their paklite knives in an "elite" edition, which is s30v. The problem is that the knives do not have any traction coating on the handles. This makes gutting or butchering possibly dangerous if you have a razor-sharp and slippery knife in your hands. I've seen lots of guys do a paracord handle on the site for their paklite knives, but I'd ratther mimic the Buck traction coating so that it's easier to clean.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a DIY traction coating? I'd ideally like something very similar to what Buck uses on their regular paklite knives. I did some searches on the boards here and found some rubberized coatings and truckbed-liner, but I am wondering if there is a better option that is closer to the Buck paklite knives. Ideally it would be something brightly colored (blaze orange?) and not black; I have dropped dark/camo tools in the tall grass before and they sure are a pain to find!

Here are a few pics I have of the knives--

Sorry about the links, the "link" button at the top of the post box doesn't do anything when I click it.

Thanks guys!
